Resident Care Liaison

Purpose of the Job

The Resident Care Liaison will provide care and liaison services to geriatric residents in Unit 1D, ensuring a high standard of comfort, privacy, and well-being. This role combines personal care, administrative support, and resident relations, playing a key role in enhancing the quality of life for residents. The individual in this position will meet residents’ needs with professionalism, compassion, and confidentiality.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Personalized Resident Care
    • Daily Assistance: Ensure adequate assistance for residents, escalating care-related matters to the senior care team.
    • Well-being Monitoring: Monitor residents’ overall well-being and report any changes to the care team.
    • Specialized Care Needs: Ensure access to tailored services such as dietary preferences and therapies.
    • Personalized Services: Arrange transportation, share life enrichment schedules, or coordinate special events as required.
  2. Concierge Services
    • Personalized Scheduling: Organize appointments, transportation, and outings, ensuring prompt, professional responses.
    • Special Requests: Handle requests for in-room dining, personal shopping, and errands with attention to detail.
    • Room Services: Ensure rooms are cleaned as scheduled, linen changed, bar fridges stocked, and amenities provided as per offer.
    • Catering: Oversee meal set-up and ensure accuracy, whether for private rooms or the private dining room.
    • Operational Services: Ensure maintenance, pest control, cleaning, and catering services are provided efficiently. Log and address tickets promptly.
    • Relations: Build strong, trusting relationships with residents, families, and guests, ensuring a high-quality experience.
    • Event Planning: Collaborate with Life Enrichment and catering teams to organize events like birthday parties.
  3. Communication and Coordination
    • Resident Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for residents and refer them to the appropriate multi-disciplinary team (MDT) members.
    • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work with the care and operations teams to ensure resident care plans are followed.
    • Family Interaction: Provide families with updates, address concerns, and ensure care aligns with expectations.
  4. High-Quality Service Delivery
    • Confidentiality and Discretion: Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in all interactions.
    • Luxury Services: Maintain a clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for residents.
    • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect cultural, religious, and personal preferences in all services provided.
  5. Administrative Tasks
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of services, requests, care routines, and appointments for each resident.
    • Facility Coordination: Coordinate with the management team to ensure all resident needs (furniture, personal care items, equipment) are met.
  6. Staff Support and Leadership
    • Training and Mentorship: Provide support and training to staff on resident needs and expectations.
    • Quality Assurance: Assist with audits to ensure care standards are consistently met.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         Matric

·         Certification in customer care or elder care, healthcare administration, or hospitality services is an asset. (advantageous)

·         3-5 years’ experience in customer care (advantageous)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in customer care, particularly in a geriatric environment or luxury care settings, is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail regarding schedules, preferences, and special requests.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature with a desire to improve elderly residents’ lives.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of anticipating needs and resolving concerns.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and requirements.
