Salon Manager

Location: Sandringham, Johannesburg
Position Type: Permanent – Full Time

Purpose of the Job

The Salon Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the salon, ensuring the highest level of customer service, and maintaining a motivated, professional team. The role includes managing staff, scheduling, inventory management and expense tracking.

Role and Responsibilities

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily salon operations to ensure smooth and efficient functioning
  • Implement and maintain salon policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Track and report on sales and expenses

Staff Supervision

  • Management of salon staff, including but not limited to:
    • leave approval
    • daily supervision
    • performance management
    • disciplinary management
    • training/mentoring
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching
  • Address staff issues and mediate conflicts as necessary
  • Ensure space and resources are well maintained

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that all staff exhibit a culture of care, respect and upholding the dignity of residents and clients
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided by all staff
  • Handle customer and resident feedback and resolve issues promptly
  • Monitor customer feedback and make improvements as needed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, their families, and staff
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in the beauty industry to continually enhance service offerings

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory levels and manage stock ordering
  • Ensure all products and equipment are well-maintained and in good condition
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms and pricing

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Matric
  • Degree in cosmetology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a salon or spa environment
  • Previous managerial experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with the aged population
