  • TORAH CORNER – KINDNESS – PARSHAT KORACH

During the heated confrontation between Moses and Korach, Moses approaches the assembly and advises them to completely distance themselves from Korach and his wicked men.

Although Korach’s nearest allies did not take notice, many of the people heeded Moses’ advice and were saved from destruction.

Giving sound advice is considered a great kindness. To provide clarity to a person who is troubled and confused, can relieve them of this often paralysing indecision and enable them to move forward with confidence.

When you are asked for advice, it is important to consider the situation carefully in order to advise what would truly be best for the person. If you feel you do not have the expertise, it is better to say so rather than to give  advice. Sometimes, referring a person to the correct expert is itself the best kindness.

To be asked for advice is a compliment but it comes with responsibility.

May we always provide good and wise advice that is in the best interest of the recipient.

Good Shabbos
