Staying mentally healthy during this unprecedented time is challenging. At the Chevrah Kadisha Social and Financial Services we want to ensure the community that our services are still ongoing. Take a look at the resources in this section to see how you access services and in what manner.
It is important to try stay positive, stay in a routine, and remember that although we are all urged to adhere to social distancing this does not mean social isolation. Social distancing means the measures we each put in place as advised by Government and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to keep a distance of 1-2 meters between us and the next person, to not have gatherings of more than 100 people (current Government guideline), and to practice good hygiene including no longer shaking hands, hugging, or kissing people hello. Self-isolation is the guideline to self-isolate in your home when you have come into contact with someone who you suspect has, or has already been diagnosed with COVID-19, if you have symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have recently traveled. This is put into place for a period of 14 days. Neither social distancing nor self- isolation mean social isolation which effectively means that although you may not be able to see your friends, family, colleagues as normal you can still remain in touch via phone or video calling apps. Reach out to your friends, relatives, colleagues, and neighbors.
Below is a pertinent and thought provoking quote, “Young children are going to remember how their family felt during this Coronavirus panic, more than anything specific about the virus. Our kids are watching and learning how to respond to and uncertainty. Lets wire our kids with resilience not panic”. Wise words for us all to consider- how we react, what we say and do, our actions, our words, are crucial in this time of uncertainty. This does not only apply to our young children but to ourselves as well. Lets respond with resilience and not panic.
