Janine Kehagias
Care Manager: Arcadia
Janine qualified as a social worker with a BA(SocSci) from RAU in 1999 and started working at Child Welfare in 2000. While working, she achieved her Master’s degree in social work. After 18 months, Janine moved to Firlands Children’s Home and has been a social worker in residential care ever since. She worked at Firlands until 2006 and then moved to Acres of Love, a home for orphaned and HIV positive babies and children. In 2011 she was employed at Arcadia as a social worker and in 2016 became the Day Care Manager. In March 2019, she was promoted to the position of Arcadia’s Care Manager.
Darren Sevitz
General Manager: Cemeteries
Darren has degrees in Accounting, Business Economics and Corporate Business Administration and is a Graduate of the Partnership 2000 Jewish Communal Leadership Programme. He has worked in the Communal space since 2000 and his passion for working with people and the Johannesburg Jewish Community is well known. Darren joined the Burial Services Team in December 2020 as General Manager and Funeral Director.
Rabbi Jonathan Fox
Group Rabbi
Rabbi Jonathan Fox began his work at the Chev in 2007 and completed his Rabbinic ordination (semicha) in 2008 through the Johannesburg Beth Din. Rabbi Fox has published two books, Halacha Companion and The Rashi Challenge, both of which have haskomas from the Chief Rabbi and the Rosh Beth Din.
Rabbi Fox’s passion is teaching Torah to the elderly and exposing them to the beauty of authentic Judaism. Rabbi Fox also has a degree in Actuarial Science and worked in the actuarial field for 15 years.
