Saul holds a BCom, PDBA and MBA. He founded Helping Hands, the ‘young’ fundraising division of the Chevrah Kadisha in 2005, with a view to sustaining and carrying forward the legacy of caring for the needy of our community with dignity and respect. Saul has played a key role in the transformation and strategic direction of the Chevrah Kadisha over the past decade. Saul was appointed as joint CEO in 2016 and assumed the role of sole CEO in 2018.

Jacques Simmons

Jacques Simmons

Chief Financial Officer

After studying in a Talmudic College in Israel for a number of years, Jacques returned to South Africa to complete his BCom (Hons) in Accounting and received his CA(SA) in 2003. While completing articles at Grant Thornton he gained exposure to a wide range of industries in addition to IT, audit and financial modelling. Since 2004, Jacques has worked in the Financial Services sector heading up the finance and accounting functions of various financial service institutions. He joined the Chevrah Kadisha Group in October 2013. Jacques is passionate about financial reporting and processes as well as people development.

Glynne Zackon

Glynne Zackon

Group Manager: Social Services

Glynne has a BA Social Work Honours Degree from the University of Witwatersrand, 1987. She has worked extensively in the field of substance abuse, child care and family services as a social worker, supervisor and manager. Glynne joined the Chevrah Kadisha Community Social Services in 2000 and her passion for the profession and her compassion towards people has inspired her achieve roles of leadership and management within the Chev Group.

Lijahne Beetge

Lijahne Beetge

Group Manager: Care

Lijahne is a Clinical Psychologist who joined the Chevrah in 2008. She did her BA, Honours and Masters in Psychology at Stellenbosch University. In 2006 she completed her internship at Sterkfontein Hospital and the following year did community service at the SA National Defence Force. Lijahne is very passionate about working with all people of all ages, with different diagnoses and abilities.

Colin Kinnear

Group Manager: Catering and Facilities

Colin holds a BTh (Theology) degree from the South African Theological Seminary of South Africa. He also earned an MBA from Aston University with a distinction for exceptional performance. Throughout his career Colin has gained valuable experience in various sectors, starting from the restaurant industry to founding his own successful management consulting firm. His unique blend of theological knowledge and business acumen drives him to integrate ethics and pragmatism, promoting positive change in the corporate world with values of integrity, compassion and sustainability.

Joni Angel

Group Manager: People

With a track record spanning over two decades, Joni has championed the importance of people-centric approaches in corporate, SMMEs and NPOs alike. Her deep understanding of the ever-evolving HR landscape, and belief in the transformative power of culture, has allowed her to make insightful, strategic people impact on business. Joni holds a B.A. (Psychology) and B.A. (Hons) Psychology degree from RAU. Prior to joining the Chevrah Kadisha Group in July 2018, Joni managed her own HR consultancy, and also occupied HR Management roles in several divisions of corporate organisations. Joni’s passion for shaping and nurturing organizational culture has been the cornerstone of her career. Her relentless pursuit of excellence in HR, as well as her profound commitment to fostering a positive workplace environment, has allowed her to inculcate an organisational culture ripe for productivity and purpose.

Shira Rosenbaum

Group Manager: Life Enrichment

Shira completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNISA in 2000 and spend 20 years working in the Insurance industry in a variety of leadership roles. She became a certified coach in 2015 and ran her own coaching and consulting business for 4.5 years before joining the Chev in July 2021. Shira is passionate about people and believes that individual and organisational success depends on how people connect with one another She is excited about the opportunity to make a difference in enriching the lives of all Chev residents and beneficiaries.
