The Chevrah Kadisha has evolved since 1888 from a burial society into a comprehensive welfare organisation at the heart of the Johannesburg Jewish community. Today we have over 10 000 beneficiaries including almost 1 000 in our residential facilities. The Chev touches the lives of one in every five Jews in Johannesburg. Our annual budget is R372 million. The declining State infrastructure and failing services, as well as our shrinking community, make sustainability a challenge. The most vulnerable in our community are, and will remain, dependent on the Chev’s welfare and social service infrastructure for the duration of their lives.
We must secure their future.
By including the Chevrah Kadisha (Johannesburg Jewish Helping Hand and Burial Society) in your will, you can ensure a personal legacy that continues to assist those in need. Your bequest is excluded from Estate Duties, while the real value is extending an enduring lifeline to fellow Jews.
Thank you for your consideration in this most personal and impactful decision.
