Purpose of the course:
Home Based Care Assistants is for anyone who would like to provide basic physical and emotional support to patients and their families/household members in their homes, community centres, aged homes, hospices and hospitals.

On completion of the course, Learners will be able to:
– Observe Signs such as:

  • Vital Signs
  • Physical Appearance
  • Behaviour and mental state
  • Pain assessment
  • Breathing patterns
  • Fluid Balance
  • Mobility and Physical Function
  • Injury prevention
  • Feeding
  • Pressure Care
  • Hygiene and Grooming

– Identify and report on possible needs of patients and family/household members on an ongoing basis
– Implement delegated components of care plans (Household and patient)
– Capacitate patients/family/household members in basic practical care skills
– Monitor the implementation of the home-based care plans
– Ensure the active participation of patients and/or households in the management of daily care
– Capacitate patients/family/household members in basic practical care skills
– Refer patients in line with the care plans

On successful completion of this course learners will be awarded a certificate accredited by QCTO.

R5000.00 Deposit on registration
R1970.00 per month over 5 months
Total Course Fee: R14850.00

All knowledge, practical and workplace training take place on site, course fee includes all training material, assessments and exams as well as basic uniforms.

Possible full time / Part time placement at one of our facilities after successful completion of the course

– Occupational Certificate: Health Promotions Officer (Community Health Worker), Level 3.

– Occupational Certificate: Home Based Personal Care Assistant, Level 3.
